Course Description: |
This seminar is designed to help therapists develop a comprehensive understanding of visual impairment, its impact on activities of daily living and appropriate occupational therapy interventions. The anatomy and physiology of the visual system will be reviewed including common pathologies and their functional implications. The low vision examination will be described and the optics of low vision aids will be explained.
Occupational therapy assessment and management of patients with low vision will be discussed at length. A variety of treatment options, both optical and non-optical will be presented. Details will be provided about establishing a low vision rehabilitation service for inpatients and outpatients including, marketing, billing, and documentation.
